FAQ’s

Q: I'm really unfit, does that matter?

A:  Absolutely not! I train clients that have never exercised before as well as people recovering from injury or other conditions that have negatively affected their health. I work to each persons individual level and help them make improvements to their general health and fitness. All this in turn can aid mental health by improving confidence, reduceing stress and improving quality of sleep. I have trained many clients that have had no prior exercise experience and have been quite apprehensive about getting started. After their first session with me, they become more confident and excited about being on a path to achieving their fitness goals.

Q: How many personal training sessions should I have?

A: This depends on a few factors. If you are already fit and just need guidance on a sports specific goal i.e. running the marathon, you may just need a few sessions to point you in the right direction. On the other hand, you may need more motivation and weekly check ins to keep you on track, I would then suggest 1-2 sessions per week to begin.

Q: How quickly will I see results?

A: I have had clients see results in a very short space of time. It will also depend on your current fitness level, your personal goals and how much effort you are able to put in.

Q: I have a young baby, do you offer post-natal training?

A: I am a fully qualified and insured post natal instructor. I offer new mums training programmes that will introduce them safely back into exercise with focus on strengthening the deep core and pelvic floor muscles. This is essential after giving birth.

Q: I'm training for a marathon, can you help with running training?

A: Absolutely! I have trained clients to run their first marathon and given them a realistic training plan to follow taking into account their time limitations and daily schedules. They have gone on to achieving their own personal best.

Q: I’m ready to start! How do I book?

A: Great! Please click here to contact me in the first instance and we can arrange our initial consultation. This will help me establish your goals and current level of fitness. Our first session will consist of a fitness test and taking some measurements, the thought of this might seem a little daunting but it’s the best way to measure how far you’ve come in a few weeks time! I look forward to meeting you and helping you on your fitness journey!

Such a great experience! Ruth is really superb at motivating and has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to designing and implementing the perfect exercise programme. I reached the goals that Ruth helped me to set after giving birth.

I have been working with Ruth for over a year and a half. I suffer from mild cerebral palsy and Ruth’s approach to my training has been significantly better and well informed to adapt exercises taking into account any limitations I might have then previous PTs. Ruth does not only design training programs but undertakes a holistic approach to fitness, diet, lifestyle etc. The results for me have been amazing both in terms of achieving goals we jointly decide upon and continually review and the vast improvement in my mobility and fitness. I would recommend Ruth to anyone regardless of one’s fitness level as Ruth will design the program that is right for you.

Absolutely fantastic 5 weeks with Ruth which has pointed me in the right direction (having also given up smoking) and given me focus. Body shape has changed, lost weight and feel great so I would not hesitate in recommending Ruth if like me you were possibly a bit out of shape and a stranger to exercise!
